Book Review: A Man Called Ove

Book: A Man Called Ove

Author: Fredrik Backman

A Man Called Ove is a truly great story. It will give you many feelings throughout the book from happiness to being heartbroken.

It tells the story of a 59-year-old Swedish man named Ove. The story goes back and forth from the past to the present so you are able to learn all about Ove’s life.

He had a hard upbringing but once he met Sonja, everything turned around for him. He saw life in a new life.

Then we learn that Sonja is no longer with us and Ove doesn’t want to live anymore because of it.

The way the universe kept making things happen to him at precisely the right time makes you believe that everything happens for a reason.

The new friendships that Ove made throughout the book in the present time made me so happy to see. He was loved and wanted toward the end of his life. I still cried at the end even though I knew what to expect.

I think after you read the book you should absolutely watch the movie with Tom Hanks. They portrayed the book perfectly. Each character was exactly what I imagined from the book.

Final Score: 5/5
