Book Review: Death Warrant

Book: Death Warrant

Author: Bryan Johnston

Thank you NetGalley and CamCat Books for an audio copy in exchange for my honest review.

Death Warrant was a story that stuck with me. I actually increased the score I initially gave this one because I kept thinking about it and realized my initial issue was most likely done on purpose.

Death Warrant is the most popular television show in the world. It’s a reality TV show that gives a live broadcast of someone getting killed. If you sign up to be on Death Warrant and make the show your memory is wiped so you won’t know it’s coming. If you do make the show you will give someone of your choosing a life-changing amount of money.

Frankie is a mentalist who signs up for the show in order to help her brother. Her brother was in an accident and had brain damage. Frankie knows the money from Death Warrant will give him the chance to get everything he needs.

My initial problem was that I felt we were waiting too long for Death Warrant. We follow Frankie and learn so much about her and we really start to like her but you know the inevitable is coming.

The ending was amazing and I really like how it all came together but I couldn’t help but think it took too long to get to it. Then I kept thinking and I really felt the way we get to know Frankie and her life is really by design. The more I thought about it the more I loved it.

This is definitely a book that I strongly recommend. You won’t be able to put it down until you know the ending.

Final Score 5/5
