Book Review: Good Dog, Bad Cop

Book: Good Dog, Bad Cop

Author: David Rosenfelt

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced audio copy.

I saw the cover for Good Dog, Bad Cop and was immediately sold. I made this decision before with another one of David Rosenfelt’s books. He knows how to pick a cover and a title to make me want it without knowing a single thing about it.

The last book I read by Rosenfelt was Santa’s Little Yelpers. I liked that book but didn’t love it. I don’t quite love Good Dog, Bad Cop but it was very close.

An ex-cop turned private investigator Corey Douglas is investigating what was considered a murder-suicide of his old mentor and friend. Corey starts to connect dots that no one saw before and sees how a few murders started to come together to be related.

Corey has a retired police dog as his sidekick that I wish had a bigger part in the story. I love dogs so I always want them to have a bigger role.

Another part that I liked was the familiar characters from Rosenfelt’s other series like Andy Carpenter and his wife Laurie. Even though I have not read too many of that series I felt even more attached to them since I already knew them.

The murder mystery here was intriguing and fun to try to unravel. I did not see some of the plot twists coming. It kept me guessing all the way to the end.

This is a mystery that is worth checking out.

Final score 4/5
