Book Review: I Eat Poop

Book: I Eat Poop

Author: Mark Pett

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advanced audio copy.

I Eat Poop takes a real problem and puts a fun education twist on it. Everyone is different, everyone is weird. That doesn’t make us a lesser person than anyone else.

In this story, Dougie is a dung beetle but is too ashamed to be his true self. He tries

to hide the fact that he eats poop, he even goes to pretty great lengths to try to hide it. Dougie was afraid he would be made fun of if anyone knew. Turns out everyone has something they feel is weird and don’t want anyone to find out about. Dougie comes clean and then we learn everyone is hiding something. That was my favorite part. The class yearbook tells you what kind of bug everyone is and a weird fact about them. This was a good story to tell you to be yourself. Whatever you are is enough, don’t try to be what you are not.

Final score 5/5
