Book Review: Battleshipped

Book: Battleshipped

Author: Savannah Scott

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audio copy.

I was fortunate to get a copy of the first book in this series and I fell in love with the characters and the small town setting. Now in the second book we return to the familiar small town I already know and love and the characters I already love. Although the characters are in the first book this is perfectly fine as a stand-alone, but I did have more appreciation for it knowing the characters already. In fact, one of the main characters in this book, Rob, was one of my favorite characters in the first book.

This is my second book by Savannah Scott and I have been pleasantly surprised by how she has taken an overused trope and made it so much more. The first book was about best friends to lovers but it was not done in the cliche way we are used to and the same goes for Battleshipped. This is a second chance romance but it just felt different than the typical way it’s usually done and I loved it.

The story follows Rob and Laura. Rob broke Laura’s heart when he broke up with her before college. Throughout the story he is trying to win her back and the interactions between him and Laura feel so authentic. Laura built up so many walls that Rob keeps trying to knock down. This was an excellent story that I could not wait to see how it ended. I’m ready for the next entry in the series.

Final score 5/5
