Two years in a row we have gone to Disney Springs, and two years in a row we made multiple trips to Gideon’s Bakehouse. We first went to Gideon’s for cookies but now we keep going for coffee. We have no problem making this declaration; iced coffee from Gideon’s Bakehouse is the best coffee we have ever had in our entire lives. Maybe it’s the Disney magic or maybe it’s the passion from owner Steve Lewis, either way, we live in New Jersey and are thinking of driving back down for a weekend just to get coffee from Gideon’s.
Back to the original reason we went, the cookies. They are huge, delicious, and sold at a very reasonable price. Six dollars for a giant homemade cookie that is almost a half pound, is an excellent value. We have tried a lot of the flavors on our several visits but our favorite is the chocolate chip cookie. There’s something about a good chocolate chip cookie that speaks to us and this is up there as one of the best.
The decor and the feel of Gideon’s is truly unique. It’s a gothic bookstore and is somewhere we wish we could hang out all day. From the bookshelves, to the pictures on the wall, all the way to the fake fire at the register. Everything is perfect.
We have not had the pleasure of meeting the owner but if you watch this excellent interview by Mike at Mousepiration you will feel like you have known Steve Lewis for years and you just want him to succeed.
We tell everyone that is going to Disney they have to stop by Gideon’s. Just a reminder, Gideon’s has the best coffee we have ever had, and that is not an exaggeration. Make sure you go try it for yourself.
